LUANDA ANGOLA

  • Where the sea kisses the desert

    Digging in the Namib desert

The research location in Angola is one of the best locations for fossils in the southern hemisphere. The region is extremely rich in fossils that have been preserved in excellent condition. The loose sand covering the skeletons makes the excavation relatively simple. Here, you can meet marine reptiles that lived in the sea that covered the area 70 million years ago: fossils of the massive Mosasaurus, long-necked Plesiosaurs, sea turtles and other long-extinct sea creatures. Naturalis palaeontologist Prof. Anne Schulp is working together with her colleagues from the United States and Portugal to uncover the fossil record of the late Cretaceous period. He cordially invites you to join him!
