Dr. Vincent Kalkman is a researcher at Naturalis and programme leader for the expedition to Bhutan. He has many years of experience working in the tropics, and is an expert in the fields of dragonflies and bumblebee preservation. Vincent also works for the EIS Insects Knowledge Center.
During the expedition, Vincent will focus on recording the diversity of species we come across, in close collaboration with specialists and students from Bhutan. Vincent and his colleagues from the Netherlands and abroad share a special interest in the groups of plants and animals that are important to the local population. Researchers like Vincent use the data collected during the field work to model the impact of climate change, which will allow the Bhutanese government to take the necessary adaptive measures.
